Class Description
This two day beginner to intermediate level seminar has been designed to enhance the clinician’s skills in effectively evaluating and treating structural dysfunctions associated with the cranial mechanism and cranio-cervical junction.  The course will review extensive anatomy, physiology, and neurology associated with the cranial system and will teach clinicians various treatment strategies and manual therapeutic techniques to help restore balance to the soft tissues and musculature associated with the cranial system.  The course will include and optional comprehensive examination, offering the clinician eligibility toward certification in the line of osteopathic manual therapy certification.

Course Objectives

This two day course is designed to offer hands on experience and to help the clinician gain expertise by learning how to:

  1. Identify the goals of manual therapy.
  2. Understand the History of the Cranial Concept and current trends in Cranial Research.
  3. Outline the basic anatomy and physiology of the cranio-sacial system.
  4. Perform a cranio-sacial system evaluation.
  5. Evaluate and Treat the respiratory mechanism and diaphragm system.
  6. Outline the basic anatomy and physiology of the spinal and cranial membrane system.
  7. Evaluate and treat cranial and spinal membrane restrictions.
  8. Discuss the different types of sphenobasilar joint biomechanics.
  9. Outline basic anatomy of the venous sinus system.
  10. Outline the basic anatomy of the cranial nerves.

Target Audience:  PT,PTA,OT,COTA and other healthcare professionals.

About the Instructor
Mathew Gardella, PT is the Program Director for Trinity Seminars as well as a Senior Instructor. He is a graduate of Quinnipiac University Physical Therapy Program and has been a senior therapist at Crossroads P.T. since 2001. Matt was Adjunct Professor for Quinnipiac University P.T. Master’s program 2000-2001 Matt served as  Program Director for Crossroads Fitness Center and was a Columbia CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. Matt has had extensive post-graduate education/training in Manual Therapy.
